Elementary Agricultural Education Pilot Program SB330
Governor Deal signed SB 330 during the 90th Ga FFA Convention in 2018. The Georgia Elementary Agricultural Education Pilot Program started during the 2019-2020 school year with 25 schools and completed the pilot program in 2021-2022 in 31 elementary schools. Elementary Ag Ed Curriculum Standards were approved at the June 2019 State Board of Education meeting.
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission held two special task force committees, in June 2018 and in March 2022, to look at the Agricultural Education Certification options for this new program. The current GaPSC certification guidelines for EAE teachers is posted online. The program is based on the three component model of agricultural education with the exception that FFA is not offered in elementary school, so the program includes Classroom/Lab Instruction, Experiential Learning and Leadership Development.
Governor Kemp signed HB1303 in April 2022 which removed the "pilot program" status officially made Elementary Agricultural Education a permanent option for all elementary schools in Georgia.

Equipment & Facilities

Food Processing Facilities
Georgia is home to 28 Food Processing facilities hosted through the local Agricultural Education departments. These food processing centers offer a local location for community members to can their own products. Each of the facilities offer their services at a minimum cost to the community members. Some facilities have quart sized cans for purchase, as well as offer to process glass jars supplied by the customer. Facilities also offer different services which may include shelling, washing and blanching of peas and butterbeans, peeling potatoes; some even are able to process meat.

Industry Certification
The purpose of the Agriculture Education Certification Program is to promote high quality instruction by recognizing schools, which have outstanding programs in Agriculture Education. Meeting industry certification standards is an indication of: a well-trained teacher, excellent local support, excellent curriculum that meets standards, facilities and equipment, and complete program participation including classroom/laboratory, FFA and SAEP. The Agricultural Education Industry Certification Program is coordinated jointly through Georgia Agricultural Education and Georgia Farm Bureau.
