As you by now know, one of our own in Agricultural Education, Mrs. Rachel Kinsaul, is the Georgia Teacher of the Year. Rachel is encouraging a Georgia Public Schools Day of Service on Wednesday, March 18, and is asking us in agricultural education to be leaders in this effort with her. Below is a link to a video message from Rachel with details. I encourage you to watch this video and find a way to prioritize some time to engage your students in a service project in your communities on March 18.

As you make plans for how your chapter can participate, I ask you do two things. First, please let your Region staff and/or me know what your plans are. We are interested in getting out to see and participate with some chapters on that day of service, and we want to be ready to support the work you and your students are doing. Second, as Rachel mentions in her video, be sure to get good photos of the work your students do on March 18, and keep some record of what occurred (how many students, results of impact in community, etc.) Mrs. Katibeth Wise on our staff is always looking for good chapter stories to highlight on our Georgia FFA social media.

Hi Everyone, I’m pleased to share an update on the GGIA Junior Certified Plant Professional (GJCPP) and the End-of-Pathway Assessment (EOPA) for horticulture students. The December 2025 testing cycle was a great success, and we are grateful to the teachers and students who participated in the first year of implementation. We appreciate your engagement as we continue to strengthen this long-standing, industry-recognized credential that prepares students for careers in Georgia’s green industry. The Study Guide and Plant Identification List are now available on the GGIA website to support your classroom preparation and student review. Spring 2026 Testing Information Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2026 Location: Tabor Auditorium at Camp John Hope Additional testing sites may be added in multiple regions based on registration numbers. Registration Closes: April 22, 2026 Cost: $20.00 per student (same fee applies whether students are completing both the End-of-Pathway Assessment and Certification or the Certification only). Registration Details Each school should complete one registration form that includes teacher contact information and a list of student participants. After registration, an invoice will be emailed to your school. Payment must be received prior to the testing date; on-site payments will not be accepted.
