GJNLS Record Books

As part of the Georgia 4-H and FFA State Market Goat and Market Lamb Shows, students may choose to submit record books for their animal projects, which are evaluated by a committee, based on accuracy and thoroughness of records, answers to questions about the project, an essay, and supporting materials. All exhibitors must maintain continuous full ownership, possession and provide primary care for their animal project from the time of entry until show day.  Through record keeping and documenting their animal projects, exhibitors learn self-motivation, self-esteem and responsibility, while providing youth a knowledge and respect for agriculture and its importance to the community, the state, and to the international economy.  The top five placing Record Book submissions will be recognized in October at the beginning of the State Market Goat and Market Lamb Shows in Perry, GA.

  1. All entries must be from bona-fide 4-H or FFA members for the current year. All animals/exhibitors that a record book has been completed for must be entered in the 2024 State Show.
  2.  Record keeping is from the date of purchase until no later than September 20th.
  3. All Market Goat and Market Lamb Record Books must be uploaded online by the ag teacher/agent only by close of business September 23rd on the Qualtrics platform: https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6h8WphWuvgi6DBA
  4. Physical copies of the books will NOT be mailed in this year.
  5. The record book is complete. No additional pages are allowed.
  6. All signatures must be obtained on the front of the record book. If the record book does not have all the required signatures, the record book will automatically be disqualified and will not be evaluated for awards. Electronic signatures are acceptable.
  7. Records can be entered into the fillable PDF or handwritten. It is suggested that you print a working copy to hand write in and then type in the pdf towards the end of the project.
  8. All work must be done by the submitting 4-H/FFA member. Plagiarism is not allowed. Record Books that appear to be plagiarized or not on grade level will be penalized.
